So I just wrapped up my first full week at my new job. I moved from automobile sales to Outside Sales. My undergraduate degree was in marketing and sales, so this was where I wanted to be. I sort of went off course for ages 22-30 (law school), but I’m happy to be on track.
Thus far I love:
How busy I am. I used to spend 90% of my day in auto sales sitting around, now I am constantly working.
The constant victories. At my last job you were doing well if you were selling 2-3 cars a week, at my new job, you may sell 4-5 ad spots a day!
Hours. I am a HUGE sports fan, so it stunk missing out on all of the racing and football because I was working weekends. That is a thing of the past since I now have weekends off. Even better, I wrap up work at 5pm every day!
Professionalism. I can’t lie, my last job was like working in a baseball dugout. Tons of cursing, dirty jokes, and spitting. It’s a pleasure to work in an environment that demands immaculate hygiene.
What I don’t like:
I don’t think the money will be as good.
The fact that I am getting my professional career going at the age of 30. I am not sure if I would have been mature enough to do this job right out of undergrad, but I hope that I haven’t put myself too far behind.
The Honda has truly become the weekend car.

Excellent news. So we should schedule an Oppo meet and watch the Austin GP or something?

I’m happy to hear about this! Life is too short to be miserable working.
